Pekin High School is seeking to hire a Head Softball Coach for the summer of 2025

Position Criteria:

– Must hold a valid Iowa coaching authorization/endorsement and/or be properly licensed through the Iowa BOEE
– Previous successful coaching experience
– Knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport
– Exhibit high moral values and be able to serve as a favorable example to young people

Performance Criteria

– Keep abreast of new ideas and techniques
– Be knowledgeable of rules and regulations as well as changes that occur
– Inventory, selection, care and maintenance of equipment
– Coach individual players in the skill areas necessary for excellent performance
– Carry out duties such as clerical work, parental meetings, equipment issue and return, field preparation and supervision
– Schedule practices, scrimmages and other activities necessary to field a competitive team
– Adhere to all rules, regulations and policies as mandated by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU)
– Cooperate will all other coaches so to meet the needs of Pekin athletes
– Provide up-to-date scores and statistics to local media and to the Pekin athletic director for the purpose of entering those in the local stat program
– Adhere to all rules and policies in the Pekin Coaches Handbook
– Responsible for budgeting equipment and supplies, as well as any fundraising that may need to occur
– Maintain confidentiality
– Perform other duties as assigned by the Pekin Athletic Director
