Financial Controller
LEGENDARY WATERS RESORT
JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Controller shall work under the general
supervision of the General Manager to fulfill the following duties and
responsibilities in an ethical and forthright manner: Coordinate and
direct the budgeting and procurement processes of Legendary Waters
Resort and Casino. Work with the General Manager and revenue generating
department managers to develop strategies for the maximization of
profits and control of expenditures. Maintain department staff records.
Must adhere to all safety and sanitation procedures. Maintain a
documented system of policies and procedures for all departments that
report up to the Controller position. Manage outsourced functions.
Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the
design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the
departments goals and objectives. Ensure accounts payable are paid in
a timely manner (as cash flow allows). Ensure all reasonable discounts
are taken on accounts payable. Ensure accounts receivable are collected
promptly. Maintain records of all contracts throughout the property.
Maintain asset management records on all fixed assets. Monitor
inventories of various departments. Ensure payroll is processed in a
timely manner. Ensure bank reconciliations are completed on a monthly
basis. Ensure required debt payments are made on a timely basis.
Maintain the chart of general ledger accounts. Maintain an orderly
accounting filing system. Maintain a system of controls over accounting
transactions. Issue timely and complete financial statements. Coordinate
the preparation of the corporate annual report. Measure the performance
of company operations to the recommended benchmarks. Manage the
production of the annual budget and forecasts. Calculate variances from
the budget and report significant issues to management. Provide for a
system of management cost reports. Provide financial analyses as needed,
in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, contract
negotiations and special events/promotions. Coordinate the provision of
information to external auditors for the annual audit, compliance and
state audits. Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants.
Comply with tribal, state, and federal government reporting requirements
and tax filings. Responsible for ensuring the reconciliation of all
receivables, i.e. check cashing, credit cards and atm balancing. Direct
management of accounting staff, which can include, but is not limited
to: Supervision, training, goal setting, hiring, performance
evaluations, etc. Management oversight of Cage and Drop/Count Team
Departments. Perform all other duties deemed necessary by the General
Manager. OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: The Controller
candidate should have an Associate degree in accounting or business
administration, or equivalent business accounting experience and 10
years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or
division of a large corporation. Preference will be given to candidates
with the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant
designations and to candidates with advanced degrees. Supervisory
experience. Experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint). Experience using accounting software Specific experience
with Great Plains accounting software would be a plus. Must possess
excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills. Excellent
attention to detail. Strong interpersonal, oral and writing skills.
