The Animal Industry Division (AID) of the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is committed to protect, regulate, and promote animal health. In doing so public health, animal health and well-being, and animal industries are safeguarded through collaborative efforts and implementation of effective programs. The purpose of this position is to provide technical support to the Animal Industry Divisions Atlanta Office. This position will compile, review, and monitor division reports relating to the Bovine Tuberculosis Eradication program areas.

The official work location for this position is the Atlanta Regional Office. This position may offer some agreed upon remote work arrangement.

Required Education and Experience

Education

Education typically acquired through completion of high school.

Experience

Departmental Technician 7

One year of experience performing experienced-level administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service.

Departmental Technician 8

One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service.

OR

One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service.

Departmental Technician E9

One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.

OR

One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.

OR

Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service.

Alternate Education and Experience

Departmental Technician (Trainee) 7

Two years of experience in a 7 level or higher non-administrative support ECP Group One classification.

OR One year of experience as a first-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.

Departmental Technician 7

Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Departmental Technician 8

Possession of a Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Departmental Technician E9

Possession of a Bachelor’s degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

Paid Holidays:Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
