Summary This position is located in the Mid-America Program Service Center at the Richard Bolling Federal Building, 601 E. 12th Street, Kansas City, Missouri, 64106. This position is being filled on a permanent basis. The full performance level of this position is GS-5. Responsibilities Operates complex high speed and flatbed scanners and attendant personal computers. Adjusts scanner settings as needed to assure that all images are clear and to avoid paper jams. Cleans and re-calibrates the scanners frequently and on a regular schedule. Operates a hand-held bar code reader and package-strapping machine. Notifies supervisory personnel when it is time to re-order scanner cleaning or re-calibration supplies, or strapping material. Collects data for periodic workload reports as directed by supervisory personnel and performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-5: 52 weeks of of full-time specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 in the Federal Service. Examples of specialized experience include examining, evaluating and categorizing correspondence and documents; sorting mail and forwarding to appropriate operating areas for processing; stocking inventory; filing, alphabetizing/numericalizing, organizing; processing work using a computer. Note: Part-time work is prorated in crediting experience (e.g., if you work 20 hours per week for a 12-month period), you will be credited with 6 months of experience. Education SUBSTITUTING EDUCATION: If you are qualifying for this position based on completed education at an accredited U.S. college, university, or other educational institution, you must provide a copy of your transcripts or other proof of education prior to being appointed. NOTE: Education completed in a foreign institution must be deemed equivalent to that gained in conventional/accredited U.S. education programs. GS-5: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study above high school (e.g., 120 earned semester hours, 180 earned quarter hours, bachelors degree, etc.). COMBINING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Experience and education as described above may be combined to meet the minimum qualification requirements. GS-5: Education course work equivalent to a baccalaureate program beyond the second year (e.g., in excess of the first 60 earned semester or 90 earned quarter hours) is creditable toward meeting the minimum qualification requirements. Note: Experience and education will be computed as percentages of the overall requirements and must equal to 100 percent when combined. Additional Information In addition to the minimum qualifications, applicants must be eligible under one of the following categories: Displaced or surplus Federal employees eligible under the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP) who have held a GS-5 or above, and in the commuting area of the listed duty location.
