Job Summary/Basic Function
About This Role:
Reporting to the Senior Compliance Officer, the Assistant Director of Operations is responsible for ensuring the effective administration of financial aid programs for all students. This role involves directing the development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of office operations and processes by providing guidance to staff within the operations team. What You’ll Do – Position Responsibilities:
Supervises assigned team of Financial Aid Specialist
Ensures the operations team’s successful results while promoting team dynamics through
active participation and leadership
Oversees staff and resource management, reports and program reviews
Ensures compliance with university and funding agency requirements and student financial aid applications.
Evaluates financial aid applications for both returning and newly admitted students using
federal and institutional guidelines and methodologies
Participates in the formulation of financial aid policies and procedures and provides support
and back up for veteran reports and programs.
Collaborates with the Student Aid leadership team to determine yearly and intermittent
goals/objectives are designed, measured and effectively lead.
Provides and analyzes information in the Student Information System (Banner) and CRM
(Ellucian), for management purposes by producing reports as needed.
Maintains competency and professional currency through self-directed professional reading,
developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as requested by office leadership.
Assists with the planning and execution of special programs and projects.

The ability to maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations.
The ability to utilize data to inform decision-making and strategic planning.
The ability to direct the development and implementation of office operations and processes.
Physical Requirements:
Works in an office environment for 6 to 8 hours
Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment that does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements.
Occasional lifting, pushing, climbing, and pulling may be required.
Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks.
Occasionally lift 10-15 pounds
Job Conditions:
Office environment with controlled temperature. Moderate exposure to noise.

Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree is required. Will accept work experience relevant to the role in lieu of education requirement
Minimum three years’ proven work experience in process operations management, preferably in financial aid, and/or finance.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with students, parents, staff, and external agencies.
Competency and proficiency using technology

Preferred Qualifications
Financial aid experience preferably in higher education or compliance including one-year supervisory experience
Extensive financial aid knowledge of Title IV and state aid regulations
Experience with Ellucian Banner database
