REPORTS TO: Business Operations Manager
STATUS: Seasonal, Full Time (Monday – Saturday) DATES: October 1st, 2024 – January 3rd, 2025 PAY: $20.00/Hour

SCOPE OF POSITION: The Seasonal Kettle Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the day -to- day operations of the Christmas Kettle Fundraising Program. This will include but is not limited to: strategic scheduling and supervision of staff as well as the placement and collection of red kettles.
Essential Functions
1. Ensures all equipment (signs, stands, kettles, bells, aprons, kettle locks, etc.) are clean and in good working order.
2. Works with Christmas Drivers to ensure kettles signs and stands are delivered and stored according to store manager instructions prior to the first day of kettles.
3. Contact all store managers by letter or phone to seek their permission to establish a kettle site at their location. Acquires National Agreements and associated paperwork for each site. Must be able to communicate professionally with store managers during challenging situations.
4. Works with Business Operations and Office Managers to hire and train paid bell ringers.
5. Develops and distributes weekly Bell Ringer/Driver schedules, coordinating with the Volunteer Coordinator to incorporate a goal of 50% volunteer Bell Ringers.
6. Performs “spot checks” on staff and volunteers throughout the day to ensure The Salvation Army is being represented appropriately and that bell ringers are showing up to work and on time.
7. Collects and verifies daily time slips, including start and ending times, for all paid staff to ensure timecard accuracy prior to submitting to Finance Manager. This must be completed by 8pm each bell ringing day.
8. Submits personal timecard with accurate information at the designated time and mode without exception.
9. Troubleshoots issues that may hinder successful daily kettle operations.
10. Monitors Bell Ringer site productivity and works with the Business Operations Manager to adjust schedules as necessary.
11. Adheres to employee dress codes while working.
12. Other seasonal duties as assigned by Business Operations Manager and Corps Officers.
13. Helps with kettle counting duties each counting day.
14. Is in the office each workday (or appointed starting location) by 9am and is onsite until 5pm, Monday – Friday. After this, the Kettle Coordinator is available by phone until 8pm. On Saturdays, the Kettle Coordinator is available by phone from 9am to 8pm.
15. Must be available to drive a kettle pick-up route as needed and must be available during the workday to take equipment out to all bell ringing locations.
Working Conditions
1. Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, run, jump and twist on an intermittent and sometimes continuous basis.
2. Ability to maintain grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, reach overhead, and carry office supplies.
3. Maintain the ability to operate a computer, telephone, and similar technologies.
4. Ability to be outside in the cold for extended lengths of time.
5. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Must submit to and pass a background check.
2. Must complete Online “Know Your Policies” and “Decision Driver” trainings.
3. Must possess a valid Washington State Drivers License
4. Must have personal transportation.
5. Must be a minimum of 21 years old.
