Traffic Controllers work with construction teams to ensure that automobiles and pedestrians do not interfere with, or pose a danger to, laborers and their projects. Candidates must become certified in basic traffic safety techniques by attending a training class provided by the company. The Traffic Controller must create a safe work zone that ensures traffic does not pose a threat to the workers. This involves setting up cones and barriers that show traffic where to drive, as well as holding up signs that tell traffic to either stop or to proceed slowly. Traffic Controllers must constantly be aware of both the construction and traffic activity taking place around them. Compliance with all safety regulations is mandatory.
Responsibilities:
Set up, maintain, and remove temporary work zones including warning signs, traffic cones, and rumble strips according to ATSSA and DOT regulations.
Load and unload work zone equipment to and from the company vehicle
Must act as a spotter to Wright vehicles backing into a parking spot/driveway, attaching a trailer, or deploying equipment.
Drive the company vehicle to and from job sites in a safe manner.
Complete all paperwork in a timely manner.
Wear and maintain proper PPE in accordance with Wright-specific policy.
Read and comprehend Wrights safety manual and employee handbook.
Reports directly to a Field Supervisor
Other job duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Valid drivers license and maintain a clean driving record.
Must have a smartphone with internet access for timekeeping and communication to receive work schedule.
Must have reliable transportation.
Excellent communication skills
Be able to work in all weather conditions and tolerate varying climates of heat, cold, and rain.
Pass a drug screen prior to employment and maintain a drug-free status.
Be able to stand throughout your entire shift, hand, and arm movement is required.
The position does not allow for frequent breaks.
Be able to lift 50 pounds.
Be physically capable of performing all flagging duties.
