City Clerk

The position is a highly responsible position under administrative and legislative direction, performs complex clerical and administrative work in the administration of the City government. This position requires a high level of confidentiality, sound and independent judgement and skilled business practices in the planning and execution of the City Clerk duties. This is an exempt position.

The City Clerk serves as a custodian of official City records and public documents; including the organization, maintenance, and archiving of the official City records and public documents; preparation and maintenance of official municipal records; assists with Council and Committee meeting notices, agendas, minutes, and publications; attendance and recording of official meetings for City Council and other required meetings; works with the City budget, audit and other accounting functions associated with the Clerks office; assists with special projects; and responds to requests from the public, other City departments, federal and state organizations, and other municipalities.

The position requires performance of administrative functions requiring sound judgment and skilled business practices. Position requires excellent organizational skills, detail oriented, ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, knowledge of computer systems, ability to utilize social media skills to communicate with citizens and elected officials, and maintain a high level of confidentiality. The ideal candidate must have a good work ethic.

Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in business administration, public administration, political science or a closely related field is desired, but not required. Accounting and financial knowledge/experience is also desirable. Individuals with work or life experiences and skill sets that are equivalent are encouraged to apply. Municipal Clerk certification or the ability to obtain is highly desirable.
