Description

Position Summary: Responsible for maintaining and initiating meaningful relationships with Unity Ministries, major donors and prospects. For the purpose of growing major gifts, capital campaign contributions and secure planned gifts from Unity donors in your assigned portfolio.

Donor engagement and relationship building is key to success in our Philanthropy work at Unity; we use a comprehensive matrix to track effectiveness including virtual visits, in-person meetings, phone calls, electronic communication, and written communication. Members of the Philanthropy Team work together with Unity leadership and Board Members to enhance the effectiveness of fundraising activities at Unity World Headquarters.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Help facilitate a successful roll out of a plan to engage Ministries in supporting the 100 Years and Beyond capital campaign with the intent to “sell” the remaining etched tiles in the lobby of the Goppert Event Center in this fiscal year.

2. Research current Ministers in each of the 108 spiritual organizations we are targeting for the Tribute Wall.

3. Keep the Minister list current. Leverage relationships with Ministers on behalf of UWH. Building a database of contacts.

4. Work with the Philanthropy Team to develop marketing strategies to successfully plan and initiate an end of the year campaign to increase awareness of the capital campaign, including social media for identified target audiences with the intent of completing the Tribute Wall fundraising.

5. Plan and organize travel and philanthropy activities.

6. Achieve a thorough understanding of the donor management database and ensure that the appropriate information is updated regularly. Continually update information in the CRM to make sure donor records are current and accurate.

7. Discuss and recommend major gifts, capital campaign contributions and planned giving ideas on the telephone, in correspondence, and in person in a professional manner, with technical accuracy.

8. Regular and reliable attendance is required. This may be a remote or telecommute position, or a hybrid situation.

9. Adhere to all company and departmental policies and procedures per the guidebook including all safety requirements and guidelines.

10. Utilize electronic time management system to input time, attendance, and time off requests.

Non-Essential Job Functions:

1. When budget permits and with permission from VP of Philanthropy attend seminars to enhance skills and learn current best practices in major gift fundraising, annual/general fund, capital campaign, gift planning, grant funding and endowment topics.

Qualifications

Education: B achelor’s degree emphasizing non-profit management, communications, fundraising, marketing, business administration, or equivalent field of study.

Experience:

1. Excellent interpersonal and verbal relationship building skills.

2. Excellent oral presentation skills.

3. Flexibility concerning work hours and schedules (Evening work is required.)

4. National travel required.

Computer Skills: I ntermediate end user with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook. Database/donor management software experience preferred.

Certificates & Licenses: Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), a plus. Member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, a plus.

Preferred Prerequisites: Knowledge of Unity principles, a plus. Commitment to ideas and principles of Unity, preferred. Physical/Mental Requirements:
