Responsibilities

The Surgical Technologist handles surgical instruments, supplies and equipment as they are assisting the surgeon during an invasive procedure. They possess the expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and are responsible for the maintenance of the sterile field. They are also able to assist in sterile processing and Endoscopy areas.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

1. OR scrub tech will gather equipment and supplies for each surgical case based on surgical preference cards-scrub in, set up and organize field in a timely manner using approved techniques.

2. Keep track of needles, sponges and instruments throughout the procedure and performs counts per policy.

3. Report any breaks in sterility or techniques-speak up for patient safety.

4. Assist team members on cleaning and turnover of OR room.

5. Assist other members of the OR Team as needed

6. Demonstrates understanding of the hospitals mission and values and demonstrate that in your work.

7. Demonstrate consistent alignment with our behavior standards.

8. Models fiscal responsibility by cost effective use of resources consistent with hospital and system goals.

9. Work within unit to maintain productivity standards.

10. Other duties as assigned by leadership

Qualifications

Required

Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist Program

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Demonstrated understanding of safety standards in practice in OR

Preferred

Certification

One year experience in operating room

Pay Range

$26.89 – $37.41 /hour
