Responsibilities

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse uses the nursing process to identify patient needs and priorities of care through assessment, planning and delegation of care based on patient needs, therapeutic interventions, and evaluation of the patient’s response. The nurse is expected to incorporate and demonstrate the message of St. Gabriel’s stated mission, including its Christian ethics, philosophy and values.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

1. Provides basic, bedside care.

2. Displays professionalism while completing multiple urgent tasks in a timely manner.

3. Performs triage, collects current symptoms, records patients’ current vital signs, as well as a detailed patient history.

4. Works directly under physician’s direction and/or policies/procedures.

5. Prepares and administers and records prescribed medications.

6. Provides Patient/Family Education.

7. Manages basic life support needs and stabilizes patients until the attending physician is available, based upon nursing standards and protocol.

8. Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms

9. Maintains proper supply levels and appropriate medical equipment.

10. Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Required

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing

RN in Minnesota

BLS

ACLS within 12 months of hire

TNCC within 24 months of hire

ENPC within 24 months of hire

ATCN may be substituted for TNCC

PALS may be substituted for ENPC

Preferred

Two years emergency nursing experience

Knowledge of nursing principles, policies, procedures and hospital ethics

Pay Range

$33.05 – $46.09 /hour
