## Overview

The Department of Buildings and General Services (BGS) at the State of
Vermont is seeking a District Facilities Manager (DFM) to oversee the
Northwest region. This is a multi-faceted position that will be
responsible for administrative, planning, maintenance and supervisory
work at several locations within the district.

The Manager is expected to coordinate assignments, oversee preventative
maintenance and smaller scale construction projects. The DFM will be
responsible for providing assessments and recommendations during the
budget planning process for their district. Additionally, the position
will ensure that staffing levels for all shifts are appropriately met
and will manage staff expenditures such as overtime, training, mileage
and expense reports. The DFM will travel to various facilities within
the district and should be prepared to respond when emergencies occur.
Previous supervisory experience is required for this position. The
position requires successful completion of multiple background checks.

## Environmental Factors

Work is performed in both office and field settings, outdoors and inside
buildings. Manual dexterity may be needed to operate equipment and use
tools. Incumbents must be able to respond anytime when emergencies
occur. Incumbents may be required to lift moderate to heavy weights.
Travel to various locations may require private means of transportation.
Work in all types of weather can be expected. Wastewater systems and
confined spaces are common throughout each district and are hazardous
(disease, ventilation, and entrapment issues) and the Facilities Manager
must be able to access, evaluate, and assist in these areas. Entering
areas immediately after flooding, fires, and other natural and man-made
disasters are essential for evaluation. Correctional, Mental Health, and
Lab Facilities include infectious disease, risk of assault, mental
abuse, and cross contamination of evidence issues.
