ABOUT YOUR ROLE

The Director of Government Banking is responsible for managing, coaching and leading the Banks Government banking efforts, focused on Government, Higher education and Non-profit (GHN) relationships along with business development in this segment across the Banks footprint.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Senior ambassador to the GHN sector; originates and/or supervises the origination of new relationships within this segment with a constant focus on improvement of margins.

Manages the Banks GHN department; provides coaching and supervision to the Government Banking Officers (GBOs) and Government Administrators to enhance skills, uncover opportunities, and ensure treasury products and services are delivered efficiently and effectively. Develops and controls the departments budget.

Services and supports the Government Banking deposit relationships, including those covered under GUDPA.

Lead the expansion of the GHN segment in new markets.

Relationship Manager for the Banks portfolio of municipal contracts.

Develops and maintains strong relationships with the retail and community banking network to achieve market penetration.

Maintains an in-depth knowledge of competitor products and services to support awareness to the team.

Represents the Bank at appropriate community activities.

Participates in joint calls with business partners to build and develop customer relationships with the ability to cross-sell bank products and services.

Manages and oversees the GHN Sales Teams pipeline and referrals for Internal partners.

Provide leadership and development of the GHN Sales Team to increase treasury management fee income and commercial deposits.

Meet or exceed assigned Team goals. Join in-person calls and lead calls where necessary.

Develop and execute an effective sales plan clearly outlining consistent activities, tactics and strategies leading to annual sales goal attainment, in coordination with, and in support of the strategy outlined by Director of Treasury Management.

Follows Bank policy, procedures and guidelines.

Serves as Subject Matter Expert (SME) and trusted advisor to recommend and promote Treasury Management solutions to internal and external clients while working within the risk parameters of the Bank.

Build and develop strong business relationships internally and externally.

Develop annual review process for clients and create account plans. Deploy the process for the GHN Sales Team.

Provide timely reporting of sales activity and prospective sales opportunities in the SalesForce reporting system to the Director of Treasury Management.

Coaches and mentors branch managers and staff in regards to GHN segment and supporting clients in the GHN segment. Specifically related to signature cards and account signor changes.

Works closely with Treasury Client Services for GHN account opening, onboarding and implementation. Partners TCS colleagues to oversee transition of requests.

Attains both the fee income and deposit sales goals as established by Director of Treasury Management.

Conveys a professional, knowledgeable and confident demeanor.

Actively engages in mentorship and development of GHN administrator staff.

Builds collaborative internal relationships to develop and foster partnerships.

WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU

Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.

Excellent reasoning and critical thinking skills.

Thorough knowledge of financial principles and practices within the commercial banking industry; experience analyzing and reporting on financial data.

Strong management skills.

Experience with bank systems, software, and reporting packages.

Knowledge of practices relating to organizational design, workflow analysis, policy and procedure development, and risk management.

Strong relationship management and business origination skills.

Experience with Southern New Jersey or similar banking/retail environment.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree in Business or related field. MBA preferred.

Minimum of 10 years of senior executive experience in a high-performing, community-banking or retail environment.

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CONTACTS

Internal contact with all levels of personnel and management.

External contact with clients and community.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Office environment. Ability to operate computer. Ability to communicate in order to exchange simple to complex information with individuals and groups. Ability to travel throughout Bank footprint.
