Healthy Kids is looking for an experienced, skilled, detail-oriented, self-starter to occupy the position of Maintenance and Custodial Technician.The position is responsible for the daily cleaning and maintenance of our Daycare center in Waterloo NY. Occasional work at other centers in the area may be assigned on an as-needed basis. Further, this position is responsible for reporting any issues with the building that are noticeable in off hours, keeping stock of cleaning supplies, restocking materials, and taking out trash during every shift.

Location:Waterloo, NY

Pay:$17 per hour

The Maintenance and Custodial Technician will align his/her scope of work with Healthy Kids Mission while incorporating Healthy Kids Core Values as the guiding principle for all work activities. This position is accountable for ensuring the cleanliness and function of our facilities and upholding the standard expected by our parents here at Healthy Kids Programs. The Daycare Custodian will align his/her scope of work with the Healthy Kids Mission while incorporating Healthy Kids Core Values as the guiding principle for all work activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Cleaning requirements of daycare facilities are as follows:

Sweeping and mopping all floors in the rear daycare area 3 times a week

Vacuuming all carpet of the daycare area

Taking out the trash in each room every night

Cleaning All bathrooms in the building

Wiping down all hard surfaces if they have not been cleaned.

Wiping door handles

Wiping down windowsills, doorjambs, vents, and other hard-to-reach and often-forgotten

areas on a rotating schedule once every two weeks

Cleaning of windows as needed on an occasional basis

Maintenance Requirements of the Daycare are as follows:

Conducting routine inspections of premises and equipment

Performing preventative maintenance.Handling basic repairs and maintenance.

Overseeing contractors when professional repairs are necessary.

Diagnosing mechanical issues and correcting them.

Repairing machines, equipment, or structures as necessary.

Renovation work

Conducting jobs that include painting, light electrical, plumbing, HVAC, Framing,

Mudding, Landscaping, and all other skills required for the maintenance and renovation of buildings and grounds

Requirements

Qualifications:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to pass a background check.

Basic knowledge of chemical cleaners and their applications

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Proven maintenance experience.

Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.

Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts.

Ability to check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.

Ability to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches.

Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices.

Experience performing routine maintenance.

Strong organizational and follow up skills.

Eye for detail.

Professional presentation and attitude.

Ability to maintain focus while working individually.

Strong time management skills.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Related degree from a technical college.

At least 3 years of experience in property maintenance

Experience driving box trucks preferred

At least 1 year of cleaning experience, preferably 2 or more

An employment history going back at least 5 years

Language Ability:Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of

the organization. Ability to communicate effectively with internal staff members including program staff.

Reasoning Ability:Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to be very active, moving carpets, filling mop buckets, and occasionally moving furniture. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
