Description
This hybrid role, based at our corporate office in Rochester, NY, collaborates with the Human Resources and management teams to drive HR initiatives that align with business strategies and deliver high-quality support.
What Youll Do…
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and utility regulations, including verifying eligibility to work in the U.S. and completing utility-specific reporting
Manage reporting requirements for government and customer employment data
Organize, file, and maintain employment records in compliance with regulations
Process duplicate identity claims
Serve as the organization’s Designated Employer Representative (DER), overseeing Alcohol & Drug Testing Policy and Procedures in coordination with HR Business Partners
Administer the Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace policy, including pre-hire, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion testing
Maintain and update Drug and Alcohol Testing dashboards and Management Information System (MIS) reporting
Process vendor invoices
Support training and development initiatives and contribute to process improvements
Train and develop new or temporary HR coordinators
Oversee utility reporting and audits (e.g., National Grid background checks)
Manage utility badging processes (e.g., BGE)
Coordinate third-party unemployment claims
Participate in HR projects, cross-functional teams, and committees
Review and escalate background checks in collaboration with HR Business Partners
Monitor and maintain testing reports (e.g., National Grid)
Provide support on employee relations issues with guidance from the HR Business Partner team
Engage with clients using a collaborative, consultative approach, building credibility and trust at all organizational levels
Handle confidential and sensitive information ethically and professionally
Provide administrative support to ensure accurate record-keeping
Process employee terminations
Audit and approve Employee Change forms
Participate in the hiring and selection of HR team members
Assist with ad-hoc reporting, including compensation module reports

Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies
Robust analytical and problem-solving skill set
Ability to prioritize and manage a high volume of tasks flexibly
A strategic approach with the ability to see the strategy through action
What Youll Need…
5 years of relevant human resources experience
Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field, or an associate degree
SHRM or other HR-related certifications preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Excel
Knowledge of labor relations and/ or experience working in a union environment preferred
Proficiency in Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and Candidate Relationship Management (CRM) tools, preferred UKG Pro (formerly UltiPro) and/or JD Edwards system
Able to travel, including overnights, by ground and/or air transportation is required
Fluency in English and Spanish (written and verbal) preferred
Valid Driver’s License required
