Summary:The IST Associate Director, Portfolio Management services and, in conjunction with Relationship Manager, deepens assigned portfolio of clients by pro-actively identifying and evaluating opportunities and mitigating associated business risks, in accordance with Huntington policies, procedures, and Guiding Principles. Owns primary responsibility for credit monitoring and escalation of issues as appropriate. Responsible for underwriting quality, portfolio administration, and credit quality of assigned portfolio working directly with the Team Leader, Regional Commercial Management, and Regional Credit Officer. Reviews and negotiates credit documentation in consultation with legal counsel. As appropriate, assists in optimizing customer relationships working directly with Relationship Managers, Treasury Management, and other team members to effectively grow fees, deposits, and portfolio revenue by presenting practical Huntington financial solutions to customers. Manages delinquencies, collateral exceptions, borrowing base, portfolio reviews, specialized reporting, product exposure annual reviews, criticized loans, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities:

In this role, you will be expected to:

Underwrite and close broadly-syndicated, complex commercial loans

Provide credit recommendations to the appropriate level of credit administration

Review loan documentation in consultation with legal counsel

Manage risk on an ongoing basis by monitoring customer credit worthiness, adherence to loan terms and general business conditions

Manage annual reviews and renewals, portfolio reviews, collateral exceptions, borrowing bases, delinquencies and other reporting

As appropriate, assist in optimizing customer relationships working directly with Relationship Managers, Treasury Management, Capital Markets and other team members

Performs other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree required

3-5 years of experience underwriting and documenting commercial loans

Preferred Qualifications:

Completion of formalized credit training program

Demonstrated success structuring complex credits; researching, judging and presenting information verbally and in writing; creating documentation to support the credit and minimize risk

Demonstrated leadership experience by providing coaching, skill development and feedback to team members

Proven negotiation skills

Proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel and other software applications that are supportive of the loan underwriting process

Strong written and verbal communication skills

High level of professionalism
