POSITION SUMMARY
The Investor Relations Department is responsible for the communication between Marathon and MPLX with the financial community and key external stakeholders. The team works to integrate messaging around the financial reporting, strategic vision, and industry trends of the company in a manner compliant with securities laws to enable the companies to achieve fair valuation. Additionally, the team also serves as a bridge for providing market intelligence on competitor actions and trends to executive management as well as other internal constituents.
The strategic objective of the organization is to aid in positively positioning MPC and MPLX by cultivating relationship with top holders, diversifying and expanding the investor base, enhancing investor tracking and targeting, and expanding financial analysis to improve external forecasting. The roles of the team members are highly integrated, often overlapping, and the team daily works in collaboration with other internal departments (Accounting, Finance, Law, ESG, Comms).
The successful candidate will provide company analysis and industry trends to executive leadership. Duties will include supporting the creation and distribution of strategic investment messages, including news releases, board and investor materials, and other key collateral for internal and external communications. This role works collaboratively with other functions in the organization, including Finance, BP&A, Law and Communications, to produce routine and ad hoc executive materials. Additionally, the successful candidate will support the Investor Relations manager and other members of the team during earnings preparation.
KEY RESPONSBILITIES
Support IR manager with day-to-day investor interactions, including development of Q&A and participation on investor calls
Synthesize daily and weekly recaps of refining news for senior management and the Board of Directors.
Develop key materials to be used in the quarterly earnings process, including earnings releases, slides, management script, Q&A and supporting documentation
Summarize refining peer earnings/press releases with 1-page executive recaps
Identify opportunities for process optimization to streamline Investor Relations activities
Perform ad hoc analyses in support of executive requests, including financial analysis of peers, market drivers, and analyst assumptions.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree required. Majors in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline preferred.
Minimum of 6-8 years of experience is required; Finance or Accounting or Commercial is preferred.
Experience with process management and/or project management is preferred.
