General Function
Develop innovation through new categories, items, and product lines. Stays up-to-date on current market trends and competitive developments in order to continually enhance private brands. Works closely with merchandising on placement of new categories, items, and product lines. Develops and maintains relationship with private brand suppliers, while also identifying new suppliers for the Hy-Vee portfolio.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Develop innovation through new categories, items, and product lines.
Tracks and prepares items for the new item review process.
Develops and maintains relationship with private brand suppliers in assigned portfolio.
Stays up-to-date on current market trends and competitive developments in order to continually enhance private brands.
Continuously identifies new suppliers that are options for the Hy-Vee portfolio.
Communicates with merchandising team on new and discontinued items.
Works with the Category Manager on marketing events, promotions, and new item launches.
Maintains relationship with Category Managers through regular meetings and planning.
Lead Product Innovation efforts within the categories and suppliers.
Work in conjunction with Category Managers to create, maintain and execute an effective promotional plan for your assigned portfolio.
Participates in category reviews and keeps up with current strategy in the overall categories.
Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
Performs other job related duties and special projects as required.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. 3 years’ experience in a creative, marketing, advertising or design environment.
Physical Requirements
Visual requirements include: ability to see detail at near and far range with or without correction.
Must be physically able to perform light work: occasionally lifting or carrying objects of no more than 20 pounds, and frequent standing or walking.
Must be able to perform the following physical activities: stooping, kneeling, reaching, handling, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Word, Access and Excel.
Ability to take art direction and constructive feedback while collaborating in a team environment.

Ability to identify problems, develop and execute solutions.
Ability to interact with basic computer systems, including word processing, spreadsheet and email applications, as well as job-specific programs.
This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, extreme confidentiality, accuracy and the ability to meet multiple deadlines.
Working Conditions
The duties of this position are performed in a general office environment. There is constant pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects in a day.
