POSITION: Maintenance Worker

DUTIES:

Maintains all County facilities, buildings and grounds.
Repairs structural facilities and grounds ensuring they are in proper
working order using skills in finish carpentry, plumbing, heating
ventilation and air conditioning, electrical, painting, removal or
installation of siding, snow removal, landscaping, maintenance equipment
and tools.
Oversees activities of workers performing maintenance of buildings,
grounds, grounds irrigation systems and construction projects.
Performs duties associated with construction or modification of existing
buildings including construction of walls, destruction of walls, removing
and replacing exterior siding, all other associated duties with construction.
Assembles and installs furnishings and fixtures.
Installs and routes wiring throughout all County buildings in support of
upgrades of systems. This involves pulling wires in close spaces whether in
an attic area or crawl space.
Assures readiness of all safety equipment, to include electronic security
locks, fire extinguishers, fire hose, sprinkler system, cameras, and
audio and visual alarms.
Responsible for snow and ice removal at all County building entryways.
Responsible for grounds maintenance including lawn care, weed control,
trimming hedges, shrubs or trees, removal of dead or damaged hedges,
shrubs or trees, planting flowers, trees or shrubs, watering of lawns,
trees, shrubs and hedges, and monitoring of such for overall health.
Performs maintenance on lawn and garden tools and equipment including
changing oil, filters, lubrication and cleaning. Confers with supervisory
and engineering personnel, inspectors and suppliers of tools and materials
during construction projects to resolve problems and improve construction
methods.
Inspects work in progress to ensure workmanship conforms to specifications
and adheres to construction schedules and standards.

REQUIREMENTS:

Level I: High school diploma or equivalent; and two (2) to four
(4) years of related experience in performing associated work. Associates
degree or postsecondary education in a trade or vocational school or community
college, preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience is
qualifying.

Level II: Maintains a valid Certification in Heating and Air Conditioning
Type II, Plumbing or Electrical through an appropriate institute; and
(4) four to (6) six years of work experience in specialized field or
combination of specialized fields. Bachelors degree or postsecondary
education in a trade or vocational school or community college, preferred.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Valid and current Colorado Drivers License.
Must successfully pass post-offer/pre-employment drug screen, physical and
Backscreen, as well as a limited background investigation.

WAGE: $23.84 – $25.75/ Hourly

SHIFTS: Full-time 40 hours per week

JOB SITE: Canon City, CO
