Dental Assistant Trainee

Purpose of Position:

Assist Dentists or DHATs in all phases of general dentistry, while undergoing intense training. Maintain an orderly, clean and efficient clinic both in the hospital and in the village. Learn how to provide clinical comprehensive dental services
Uphold the organizations vision, mission, and corporate values. Demonstrate understanding of and compliance with organizations policies, procedures, code of conduct and work rules.

Essential Functions:

Greet patients and maintain flow by efficiently turning over dental operations

Under close supervision, learn to prepare instruments for dental providers, following sterile, aseptic or radiographic technique, ensuring the cleanliness and sterilization of equipment in patient care area in accordance with OSHA standards and corporate policies and procedures

Learn how to monitor indicators of patient well-being such as movement, color, respiration, etc., reporting any noticed condition to the dentist

Learn how to provide oral hygiene instruction, fluoride treatments and sealants according to established procedure

Learn how to assist the dentist or DHAT, maintaining efficient four handed dental assisting techniques

Under supervision, learn how to take preliminary impressions and prepare study models from preliminary impressions, trimming and labeling

Participate in itinerant field travel according to established procedures, learning how to compile weekly data for trips, restocking dental field gear units and completing field trip inventory sheets

Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

Work is conducted in a standard clinical environment to include exposure to latex, biohazard or other harmful substances

Minimal travel is required (less than 25% of the time)

Travel is required via large aircraft
