Michigan Works! Region 7B covers six Mid-Michigan Counties: Arenac, Clare, Gladwin, Iosco, Ogemaw and Roscommon. We are an integrated job-driven public workforce system that links diverse talent to business. We work collaboratively within the community to enable economic, education and workforce partners to build a skilled workforce utilizing a demand-driven model. Our direct investments in economic, education, and workforce training program is focused on providing relevant education and training to ensure that individuals, including youth and individuals with barriers to employment, have the skills to compete in the job market and that employers have a ready supply of skilled workers..

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Business professional to join our dynamic team. This role requires a strategic thinker with a passion for driving business growth and fostering strong customer relationships. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing relationships and executing business strategies. The Director of Business & Economic Development Services will be responsible for leading the business development efforts and playing a key role in shaping business outcomes in Gladwin County .

Duties

– You will serve as a resource for the needs of businesses to ensure business sustainability

– Assess the needs of businesses while helping to identify potential solutions or making referral recommendations that address those areas

-Design and execute an action plan ensuring each businesss needs have been met

– Provide employee recruitment services with the scope being determined by the business

– Networking with businesses, agencies, educational institutions and other service organizations to increase exposure of Michigan Works! Region 7B and maintain collaborative working relationships. Must be able to represent the organization in a professional, cooperative, and respectful manner. Ability to give presentations, communicate effectively and work independently.

– Manage and maintain existing customer relationships through effective customer relationship management.

– Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business growth and ensure alignment with company goals.

– Utilize software tools such as Salesforce to track and analyze sales data and business performance.

– Develop and manage projects to drive business growth and ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.

– Identify market trends and opportunities and develop strategies to capitalize on them.

Qualifications

– Bachelors degree in Business Administration or a related field, or progressive business experience.

– Proven experience in business development and sales.

– Strong strategic planning and project management skills.

– Excellent customer relationship management skills.

– Proficiency in software tools such as Salesforce.

– Experience in market research and analysis.

– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

– Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Willingness to travel:

– 50% (Preferred)

Work Location: In person

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $42,000.00 – $48,000.00 per year
