Position: CLINIC ASSISTANT

Barry-Eaton District Health Department is seeking a full-time Clinic Assistant to provide clinical, administrative, and clerical support to ensure efficient public health operations within the district. This position will be based out of our Charlotte, MI office.

In the Clinic Assistant role, you will have the opportunity to:

1. Communicate in-person, over the phone and electronically, to answer questions and provides information on eligibility; assists in the completion of forms and applications.
2. Respond to client inquiries regarding lab results, medications, and related information, and conducts referrals to providers.
3. Obtain and records client measurements, vital signs, and health history in medical chart.
4. Complete basic client testing procedures and submit specimens to designated testing facilities.
5. Maintain and update clients record using various electronic medical record databases and document information in internal and external systems.
6. Conduct quality control checks tests on equipment, ensure equipment is in proper working order, and sterilize and disinfect laboratory equipment.
7. Set up exam room, gather supplies and materials, and maintain sterilized exam equipment.
8. Aid and advocate in resolution between clients and service providers.
9. Provide program outreach by attending community events and distributing program materials.
10. Maintain inventory of supplies, forms, pamphlets, and informational educational brochures related to programs and services.

Ideal candidates will possess:

– High School Diploma or equivalent
– Medical Assistant Certification or equivalent knowledge and experience, preferred
– One (1) year of experience in a clinic or lab setting, preferred
– Basic knowledge of medical terminology
– Ability to operate testing, diagnostic, and lab equipment
– Ability to manage multi-line phone system and emails
– Basic knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel
– Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact in a positive and professional manner
– Ability to travel for business using personal transportation
