Position Summary:

The Financial Aid Specialist provides excellent customer service,
guidance to financial aid applicants and their families, and obtains
financial aid information throughout the financial aid process. This
position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.
This position reports to the Director of Financial Aid.

Duties & Responsibilities:

– Meets with students and parents concerning the financial aid
application process, types of financial aid available, and deadlines
for applying for aid, and assists in completing the required forms
when requested;
– Respond to students and parents by email and phone to address
financial aid questions;
– Complete assigned duties with a high degree of accuracy to ensure
compliance while experiencing multiple interruptions;
– Maintain knowledge of policies of other departments (Registrar,
Student Accounts. human Resources, Athletics, etc.) and understand
the impact of them on a students financial aid eligibility;
– Complete training workshops and attend conferences in order to learn
and stay current on financial aid regulations and processing;
– Assist in interviewing students for financial aid office work-study,
monitors work-study positions availability, and maintained time
sheets;
– Work on special projects as assigned;
– Performs other duties as assigned

Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to
communicate effectively with students, parents, staff and faculty.

Excellent interpersonal skills with a high level of customer service
skills

Ability to work under pressure and meet timelines and objectives.

General Days/Hours:

Monday – Friday
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Regular and reliable attendance

Minimum Qualifications:

An earned Bachelors degree OR a high school diploma and 2 years of
experience.
