Development Engineer

Position Purpose:
Provide engineering design support for pneumatic and electro-pneumatic controls systems through the development, validation, and application phases.
Essential Functions:
1. Design control solutions for heavy duty commercial vehicles using pneumatic and electro-pneumatic components.
2. Create 3D models, assembly layouts, drawings, and specifications necessary to ensure proper fit, form, and function of designs.
3. Select and properly evaluate mechanical and pneumatic components, sensors and suppliers.
4. Assist with creation of Design Verification Plans, and perform testing as needed.
5. Participate in and lead various aspects of AQP process, including DFMEA, PFMEA and PPAP.
6. Acquire and analyze test data with data acquisition systems and report on results
7. Assist on the design, development, and documentation of test procedures to evaluate products.
8. Assist with design of test fixtures and building of prototypes
9. Support planning, manufacturing, and deployment of Field Evaluation Units. Work with field service group to monitor and report on product performance through FEU phase.
10. Provide on-site support for product launches at OE customers.
Education and Training:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology is required. Mechanical or Electrical Engineering disciplines are preferred.
Minimum Qualifications:
0-5 years work experience in an engineering role
Strong mechanical and/or electrical design/analysis skills.
Working knowledge of heavy duty vehicle pneumatic systems is preferred.
2 years 3D CAD solid modeling experience, PTC Creo is preferred.
Good drafting skills, including knowledge of dimensioning and tolerancing practices per ASME Y14.5.
Knowledge of materials, and of manufacturing processes such as machining, casting, injection molding, etc. is preferred.
Hands-on experience with tooling and fixture design is preferred.
Experience with sensors and data acquisition is preferred
