We are hiring an experienced Manufacturing Product Engineer to support one of the largest plastics producers and recyclers in the world. The candidate will be responsible for taking customer requests for plastic packaging, reverse engineering their current packaging to determine the chemical/polymer makeup and the proper manufacturing process required. Responsibilities: – Lead reverse engineering process for the creation of new products and improvement to existing products. – Conduct thickness tests, chemical makeup analysis, resin & plastics analysis as part of the reverse engineering process. – Modify current packaging solutions based on customer requests (e.g., color change, thickness change). – Develop procedures, conduct testing, and track metrics. – Manage development projects and report status. – Handle product formulation cost, bill of materials, and part number creation in ERP. – Communicate with customers and collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, project management, internal and external customers. – Run pilot manufacturing processes to create sample products for quality tests. – Document and communicate through Microsoft platforms including Excel, Teams, Outlook, etc. – Manufacture all customer packaging through a plastics extrusion process.
