Fairview Health Services is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) on the Float Pool at the St. John’s Hospital located in Maplewood , MN.
This position is eligible for an additional $2/hour augmentation.
The Float Pool RN will take full care assignments and float to a variety of units including Cardiac Telemetry, Med/Surg, Orthopedics, Oncology, and more! Schedule: This position will be working 0.75 FTE (60 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the Night shift, variable schedule with an every third weekend rotation and a holiday rotation.

About Our Float Pool Department at St. John’s Hospital:
Our team is prepared to work in a variety of clinical environments, where every day is different and exciting!
You will primarily be floating into our Cardiac Tele unit, where you will provide care to a variety of cardiac patients, including those recovering from cardiac procedures such as post open-heart transplant, coronary bypass surgeries, stent placements and more!
You will also float to General Med/Surg, Orthopedics, and Oncology.
Orientation is based in the Medical Surgical units. You will float to each unit with a preceptor and your over-all orientation time, as well as your unit-specific orientation time, will be determined by your level of experience.
There is an option to train to specialty areas such as ER, ICU, and MCC after 6 months.
This position would include a variety of duties including tele monitoring, IV therapies, care for postoperative/medical surgical patients, accessing port-a-caths, PICCs, and feeding tubes.
There is opportunity to obtain various certifications including Med/Surg, Ortho, and Chemo.

Responsibilities Job Description
The RN serves as the key leader of the interdependent team and is responsible to achieve patient and unit outcomes by coordinating the care for a group of patients. This includes: comprehensive assessment of patient and family needs; identification of outcomes based on the needs assessment; establishing the plan of care; monitoring the progress; and modification of the plan of care as needed.
Demonstrates dedication to principles of the patient care model (Professional Partnership Model) and achieving the HealthEast nursing vision and strategy
Applies the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to coordinate outcome focused patient care. Throughout this process, also understands and incorporates comprehensive nursing theory based on Watsons Theory of Caring aligning with the practice standards of the American Holistic Nurses Association whenever comprehensive therapy is offered
Communicates effectively with patient/family, physicians, the care team, and other fields regarding the plan of care
Assesses and documents learning needs of the patient and family. Develops an individualized education plan for patients and families based on identified needs
Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements at the point of care to achieve clinical quality, customer experience, nursing engagement, and efficiency and effectiveness outcomes
Aligns with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, board of nursing requirements, patient safety requirements, infection control practices, and other established practice standards, policies, guidelines, and procedures
Coordinates the interdependent team while promoting collaborative teamwork and cooperation
Actively participates in the development and achievement of department goals (safety, cost, quality, patient experience, employee engagement)
Maintains knowledge of, and aligns with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards
Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements

Basic Life Support Through Health Care Providers
Degree in Nursing
RN License
