POSITION SUMMARY:

Refinery Value Chain Optimization (RVCO) is seeking a motivated employee with interest in commercial economics and optimization. This is an entry level position in economics and planning group. The employee will learn how to collaborate with multiple refining and commercial counterparts while building planning and scheduling skills in Advanced Petroleum Scheduling (APS). Based on learning experience and departmental needs, the role will have opportunities to develop PIMS linear programming (LP) modeling skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works closely with commercial schedulers, traders, and refinery-based personnel.

Manages scheduling and coordinating responsibilities independently. Coordinates with key stakeholders to maximize feedstock or product value. Clearly identifies value opportunities in coordinating role and executes them.

Proactively identifies and communicates commercial/ operational optimization opportunities that improve area’s financial disposition.

Learns the commercial aspects of regional refinery operations, including feedstock selection, product and intermediate placement, supply chain optimization, and market analysis.

Demonstrates a basic understanding of refinery processes, equipment, and optimization techniques.

Assists in collaboration meetings with the value chain to discuss both local and regional economic drivers.

Schedules naphtha/aromatics process units using APS

Manages nominations associated with refinery naphtha, aromatics, and steam system along with 3rd party communication during operations disruptions

Participates in Infrastructure alignment meetings

Supports project development for several commodities such as butylene, xylenes and other petchems.

Modifies production plans as needed to adjust to demand/margin changes. Identifies constraints associated with refinery modeling uses provided input to develop refinery plans.

The applicant will also be expected to train for several backfill responsibilities within the group.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors Degree in Engineering is required. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date)

Minimum of 3 years relevant industry (refining/chemical) experience is required.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.

A valid drivers license is required.

Experience in refinery Technical Services or Operations is preferred.

This position grade may vary depending on candidate experience. The successful candidate will be placed at a level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
