Job Title : R&D Data Management and Governance Leader
Location : Cambridge, MA
About the role:
As an R&D Data Management and Governance Leader, you will lead the implementation and management of a data and data systems governance strategy according to R&D and enterprise stakeholders, redefining raw data into relevant insights, helping the organization make informed decisions, optimize performance and achieve overall data strategy (to ensure compliance to company and regulatory requirements). You will lead or provide quality expertise to complex and large-scale data projects to organize, collect and standardize data to support business-critical data analytics to lead insights and serve as a foundation to reporting needs. You will lead or provide Quality expertise to latest data programs that includes integrated data flows with end-to-end data management control mechanisms, internalization of enterprise systems and processes, enablement of automation, near-time data access/streaming data sets, efficient data query review, and flexibly ensure inspiring technologies for insight derivation (to ensure company programs will remain compliant with regulatory expectations). You will report to the Head of Data & Digital R&D Quality.
How you will contribute:
Be a leader of the RDQ data program that includes integrated data flows with end-to-end data management control mechanisms, internalization of enterprise systems, enablement of automation, near-time data access/streaming data sets, efficient data query review, and flexibly allow inspiring technologies for insight derivation.
Provide leadership to develop complex and large-scale data structures to organize, collect and standardize data to support business-critical data analytics to drive insights and serve as a foundation to reporting needs.
Advise, and work on data flow optimization including data capture, integration and use.
Subject Matter Expertise for setting and maintaining GxP standards for future state according to Takeda SDLC policies and QMS – including digital products and new technologies.
Develop data profiling and data quality methodologies and embed them into the processes involved in transforming data across the systems.
Manage and influence the data pipeline and analysis approaches, uses different technologies, big data preparations, programming and loading and initial exploration in the process of searching and finding data patterns.
Facilitate analytical assessment conceptualizing business needs and translate them into analytical opportunities.
Lead the development of technical roadmaps and approaches for data analyses to find patterns, to design data models, to increase the model to a managed production environment within the current or a technical landscape to develop.
Maintain documentation and act as an expert on data definitions, data standards, data flows, legacy data structures etc., for R&DQ and stakeholders.
Provide input to complex decisions that impact overall data products.
Seek input from multiple members and stakeholders to lead innovative solutions.
Incorporate feedback and ensure decisions are implemented swiftly to yield execution.
Drive and support new ways of thinking and lead change.
Recommend, influence and implement organizational change and innovation.
Identify opportunities and anticipate changes in the business landscape through an understanding and ongoing assessment of the environment affecting the business.
Develop and implement solutions to complex issues which potentially influence the R&D Quality Management System, and ensure full compliance with applicable GxP regulations and Takeda quality expectations.
Navigate in a global ecosystem (internal and external) with a high degree of complexity.
Recognize and understand broader, enterprise level perspective.
What you bring to Takeda:
Bachelors degree or higher in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Econometrics or information sciences such as business analytics or informatics.
7 years of experience, including 3 years of experience working in data engineering role in an enterprise environment.
Knowledge of product management in pharmaceutical industry (>5 years experience).
Experience in building, designing, or supporting scalable analytical data models (>5 years experience).
Experience with or knowledge of Agile Software Development methodologies would be ideal.
Perform diagnosis and root cause analysis and identify opportunities for improvement.
Experience with pharma processes and familiarity with R&D data management practices.
Data modeling experience and building data schema with standard tools.
Knowledge of data architecture (data lake, data visualization, hubs etc.) and modeling is required.
Experience with SDLC and processes for development of pharma R&D platforms; experience with validation/quality compliance requirements.
Experience with ETL/ELT design and implementations in the context of large, disparate and complex datasets.
Demonstrated experience with a variety of relational database and data warehousing technology such as AWS Redshift, RDS, BigQuery, Databricks.
Demonstrated experience with big data processing systems and distributed computing technology such as Databricks, Spark, Sagemaker, Kafka, Tidal/Airflow, etc.
Demonstrated experience with DevOps orchestration tools such as Github, Terraform, Ansible, Chef etc.
Experience developing solutions on cloud computing services and infrastructure in the data and analytics space.
Prior experience with GxP data products would be ideal.
Important Considerations
At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. In this role, you may:
May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and other clean room garments daily. This may include safety shoes, safety glasses, aprons, face shields, lab coats, full body gowns, hair nets and gloves and hearing protection.
Need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
Work in a cold, wet environment.
Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours, as necessary.
Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.

U.S. Base Salary Range:
$149,100.00 – $234,300.00
The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others.
