GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Manufacturing Engineering Manager helps drive continuous improvement through leading the Maintenance and Manufacturing engineering departments. This role works with their direct report(s), the Design Engineering Team, and operations to drive new equipment purchases, process improvements, and supports new product innovation. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will help create processes and develop tools for implementing in the company. The role will help work purchasing and the rest of engineering department to qualify vendors, improve design, and reduce cost. The Manufacturing engineering team will be responsible for identifying gaps in our processes and tooling, and identify continuous improvement opportunities in our operations. This role will lead Capital Projects both in execution and help own the annual budget and evaluation of performance of implemented projects.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: – Lead and coach functional teams to identify and analyze losses, and develop solutions and control plans using simple Lean Tools such as SMED, Kaizen, Work Standards, etc.- Identify and execute activities scrap reduction, utilization of Lean Tools (SMED, visual controls, Value Stream Mapping) and the overall continuous improvement of various production lines.- Provide technical support to develop and implement new cost savings and waste elimination programs, as well as executing active projects.- Lead the documenting of best operating practices, through internal analysis and industry benchmarking, and building capability in the core teams by proactively communicating key learnings to enable process improvement and effective training programs. – Lead projects focused on targeted and specific efforts to increase uptime and help improve through put.- Help team, with executive team support and approval, develop future state layouts to significantly increase output from facility.- Helps develop, implement, and sustain various maintenance programs.- Actively lead engineering efforts for all manufacturing capital expenses, including but not limited to new equipment purchases and automation.- Support new product introduction and major capital initiatives, providing performance data analysis to ensure product and delivery standards are met. – Engage production teams in developing solutions and train/coach them on using new processes and ensure comprehension and sustained execution.- Partner with Design Engineering team, production, and purchasing to develop improved designs to existing products.- Creating/editing CAD documents including new design, engineering changes, and design for manufacturing requests.- Provide engineering support to internal customers.- Develops/revises product manuals and product illustrations.QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, and SKILLS:- Must have professional experience in the manufacturing industry. – Experience in leading projects in a manufacturing setting, both capital and continuous improvement are required. – Experience developing time studies, process flows, and aid in facility layouts. – Must be proficient in 3D CAD, and knowledge of Inventor 2022 is a plus. – Must understand CAD drawings and bill of materials. – Must be mechanically inclined, preferred experience is with hydraulic systems. – Knowledge of PLCs programming and any electrical background is a plus. – Must be flexible and willing to learn new techniques, as well as adapt to existing best practices. – Possess the ability to learn hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems used on Mohawk’s lifts. – Must be detail oriented and highly organized. – Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language, and be understood. – Must be proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and other software applications. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: – Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, but a degree in an engineering discipline is required. – Must possess at least 10 plus years of engineering experience in a manufacturing setting. – Must possess no less than 5 years of leadership experience.- CAD experience required. – Preferred experience in design and drafting. – Lean or Six Sigma certifications preferred. CERTIFICATES, LICENCES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid NYS driver’s license. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Manufacturing Engineering Manager has direct reports, and includes responsibilities such as handling disciplinary issues, scheduling, training and development, interviewing and hiring, terminations, promotions, compensation, and performance management.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Physical activity includes walking, standing, bending, squatting, reaching above shoulders and lifting up to 50 pounds.
