DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:

What youll be challenged to do:
Gannett Fleming TranSystems Wayne, PA or Harrisburg, PA office have an immediate opening for a Bridge Engineer. This position is open to entry level engineers up through 4 years of experience. This position includes structural design, rehabilitation, and inspection of bridges along with the preparation of load ratings, construction documents, specifications, and estimates. Day to day assignments and technical guidance will be provided by Project Managers and Project Engineers. Applicants must possess strong technical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and must be able to work well in a team environment on multi-disciplinary projects.  Assignments may involve travel within the continental United States.

Primary Responsibilities (others may be included):
  Bridge Design assignments involving contract plans preparation and specifications requiring quality presentation, thoroughness and follow-through, and efficient conformance to budgets and schedules
  Develop calculations and analyze design options to support bridge, culvert and retaining wall designs
  Maintain organized design calculations and project data
  Calculation of quantities and development of cost estimates
  Prepare plans and technical specifications; as well as letters, technical reports, sketches, tables, and other documents required for design submissions
  Office support for construction support services
  Bridge inspection assignments as an Inspection Team Member and prepare bridge inspection reports documenting inspection findings
  Performing load ratings analysis
  Review shop drawing submittals. Organize submittals and address questions from contractors during the construction phases of structures
  Follow project delivery and quality control procedures and standards in compliance with client and company specific guidelines on time and within budget.
  Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Qualifications
What you bring to our firm:
  Bachelors degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering with an emphasis in structures from an ABET-accredited university or college
  0 to 4 years of experience in structural bridge engineering assignments
  Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam is strongly encouraged
  Team oriented engineer and strong communicator with ability to work concurrently within multiple project demands and transitioning priorities
  Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
  Physically capable of performing field work including working at heights, carrying ladders and gear, working in adverse weather conditions, etc.
  Valid Drivers License
  No relocation assistance – Local candidates preferred
  Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

What wed prefer for you to bring to our firm:
  Engineer-in-Training certification
  Masters degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  Experience with Bentley MicroStation
  Experience in new bridge design, bridge rehabilitation, and/or inspection of bridges
  Familiarity with AASHTO and PennDOT DM4 design codes
  Experience with PennDOT design software, including:  PSLRFD, STLRFD, ABLRFD, BXLRFD, BAR7, and BRADD
  Experience with common commercial structural software, including:  STAAD, vBent, and spColumn
  Completion of the following: NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges (FHWA-NHI-130055) and/or PennDOTs Certified Bridge Safety Inspector Course with up-to-date refresher courses
