Job Description

The Phlebotomist aims to serve patients by preparing specimens for laboratory testing and performing screening standards. The Phlebotomist will draw quality blood samples while creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence.

Hard Skills

Experience doing blood draws

Labeling specimens

Centrifuging specimens

Recording maintenance data and decontamination

Updating patient information

Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles

Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes

Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order

Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correctness

Package specimens for transport

Store specimen samples according to required temperature

Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations

Read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries

Over 1 year of experience

Pediatrics & Geriatrics experience

Blood Draw

Soft Skills

Greet customers appropriately

Treat all customers in a courteous manner

Properly explain the process of the venipuncture and/or other specimen collection

Reduce patient anxiety by providing a calm environment

Fully understand all of the physicians orders

Demonstrate proficiency of proper collection methods and proper processing of all specimens

Answer telephone calls

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 3 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Ashburn, Virginia.

Work Environment

This is a float role. The earliest site starts at 5 am, and the latest site is open until 6 pm. You will see 30 to 50 patients across sites from Ashburn, Leesburg, and Reston, VA. Schedules come out every two weeks.
