Position: School Nutrition Warehouse Employee

Reports to: School Nutrition Warehouse Manager II
Terms of Employment: 12 months, Full Time (30 hrs, week/6 hrs. day)
Pay Grade: 53
Pay Range: $2,600.00 – $3,226.48
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Nature of Work

Employee will perform work involving general warehouse duties to include receipt, storage and maintenance of a large volume of dry and refrigerated food and supplies for Craven County Schools. Duties involve physical labor in the loading and unloading of central dry and refrigerated food and supplies and distribution/delivery of items to 23 schools within Craven County Schools.

## Education and Experience

– Graduation from high school; Associates Degree in a related field preferred
– Experience with inventory control procedures and warehouse management

## Essential Functions/Typical Tasks

– Perform general warehouse duties to include; receipt storage and maintenance of central dry and refrigerated food and supplies.
– Work with Warehouse Manager II to ensure timely delivery of goods from central storage to schools outlined.
– Communicate needs of school regarding food quality and other general issues regarding delivery and storage of warehouse foods and supplies.
– Work with Warehouse Manager II to ensure the proper flow of food entering and leaving the warehouse.
– Use proper FIFO methods of food storage.
– Documents accurate record for proper temperature maintenance of refrigeration equipment; request service as indicated.
– Unload food and supplies from delivery drivers and store properly in required locations.
– Work with School Nutrition Maintenance employee on preventative maintenance of all school nutrition equipment.
– Keep log of all preventative maintenance done on equipment and document future service dates.
– Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the director.

– Ability to operate machines, motor vehicles, hand tools, and job specific equipment and tools
– Operate a forklift

## Physical Requirements

The major physical and cognitive requirements listed below are applicable to this job classification. Work in this classification is considered medium physical work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 40 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Must be able to:

– Walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel and crouch
– Work in various inside and outside environments being subjected to weather changes, noise, vibrations, job hazards and atmospheric conditions
– Use visual acuity required for depth perception and color perception
– Operate machines, motor vehicles, hand tools, and job specific equipment tools
– Determine the accuracy and thoroughness of work
– Observe general surroundings and activities
– Hear sufficiently to accurately perceive information at normally spoken word levels
– Use communication by means of spoken and written words to express or exchange ideas
– Operate a forklift

## Special Requirements

– Valid Drivers License
