POSITION SUMMARY: The Ice Trail Supervisor will work under the direction of the Aquatics and Ice Manager. The individual will be responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction in a safe, clean environment. The Ice Trail Supervisor will also be responsible for managing staff on shift to make sure they are following expectations set by City, Venues Parks and Arts, as well as the Aquatics and Ice Manager. Hourly Rate: $15.00 Hourly.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Cashier-Ice Staff Ice Trail Guards

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serves as a representative of the City of South Bend, demonstrating a positive attitude and progressive actions through the display of professionalism, courtesy, and appropriate.
Always provides a high level of customer service to guests and program participants. This includes greeting and monitoring all skaters.
Assists Aquatics and Ice Manager with the training, supervision and evaluation of all staff.
Responsible for opening, closing and securing the facility.
Monitors the facility for unsafe conditions and reports such conditions to the manager.
Communicate clearly and professionally with staff and guests.
Ensures that all policies and safety procedures are followed.
Maintain cash control of the ticket desk and perform necessary financial reports.
Works directly with the maintenance workers assigned to the rink to handle the day-to-day maintenance operations.
Monitor and train staff in using all sharpening equipment and the proper way to maintain rental equipment.
Be familiar with job duties for all seasonal staff (Ice Trail Guard and Howard Park Ice Staff) and be able to fill in for them if needed.
Assists with the skate operation as needed; Handing out skates, wiping them down once returned, restocking the shelf and handling any maintenance of the skates.
Assist with the promotion of skating operations and programs.
Assist with set-up and take down of special events.
Keep a neat and clean appearance and follow all uniform requirements.
Responsible for keeping a clean and organized workspace; this includes sweeping the floors, wiping down countertops, picking up trash, checking restrooms and shoveling snow.
Must be physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer CPR and First Aid effectively. Contacts emergency medical personal in case of serious injury. Ensures appropriate paperwork is completed for all incidents and turned into the Aquatics and Ice Manager.
Attends all in-service training and staff meetings as scheduled by supervisor.

NON-ESSENTIAL/MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as apparent or as assigned.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be 18 years of age or older. High school diploma preferred
Previous supervisory experience preferred
Experience in handling a high volume of guests preferred
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form with customers, supervisors/managers and staff.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Experience in cash handling, including knowledge of basic addition and subtraction.
Ability to learn on the job.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATION:

CPR/AED/First Aid Certification required. (Training will be provided to any individual not certified)

EQUIPMENT:

Computer, iPad, POS equipment, cash register, ice skates, skate sharpener.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk, walk, kneel, stoop, bend and lift; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, controls, and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, and crawl.
The employee must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time.
Specific abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee may have to lift 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This work is performed in a building and outside on and around the ice, the employee will be exposed to various weather conditions.
