Basic Job Functions:

The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for the following:

Leading and upholding safety polices, procedures and housekeeping standards. Candidate must be committed to Safety, Environmental, Quality, Productivity and Profitability of the division.

Establishing safety practices, policies, and systems to monitor OSHA compliance to ensure division conformance, including Vulcraft/Verco and corporate regulations.

Strategically planning and executing improvements to our safe practices for operations and equipment along with establishing methods to enhance the working environment and culture.

Best-marking with other Nucor divisions to continually improve our safety practices.

Willingness to learn the management of change, incident investigations, metric records and reporting to OSHA and the corporate office and the divisions Safety Management System.

Responsible for all administrative tasks regarding OSHA mandated training and recordkeeping.

Additional expectations:

Must be willing to work flexible hours when needed and to be on-call for emergency situations.

Candidate must be willing to travel 20% of the time.

This is a salaried position with ROA bonus.

Must follow and obtain safety coordinator progression/certifications within the first 2 years adn SGE withing 3 years (requirement for VPP sites).

Minimum Qualifications:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Knowledge of OSHA regulations

History of active involvement in safety programs and processes

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior safety leadership experience in a steel fabricating environment

Knowledge and implementation of OSHA Standards and safety regulatory compliance

Certified Forklift Operator

Qualified Crane Operator

Experience with Sharepoint
