Finishing Lead

Job Overview

This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of finishing operations, including painting, edge banding, and preparation work such as sanding, & packaging to ensure high-quality finishes on wood products.

Responsibilities:

1. Leadership :

2. Supervise and coordinate the activities of finishing personnel.

3. Provide guidance and support to team members to ensure adherence to production schedules and quality standards.

4. Train new team members on finishing techniques, safety protocols, and quality control procedures.

5. Painting and Staining :

6. Apply paint, stain, or other finishes to wood products using spray guns, brushes, or other application methods.

7. Ensure consistent application and coverage to achieve desired finish quality.

8. Monitor drying times and environmental conditions to optimize finish curing.

9. Edge Banding :

10. Operate edge banding machinery both (automatic and manual) to apply edge tape or veneer to panel edges.

11. Adjust machine settings and perform routine maintenance to ensure proper operation.

12. Inspect finished edges for defects and make adjustments as necessary to maintain quality.

13. Preparation Work :

14. Perform surface preparation tasks such as sanding, filling, and caulking to prepare wood surfaces for finishing.

15. Select appropriate sandpaper grits and techniques to achieve smooth surfaces and uniform finish adhesion.

16. Repair defects in wood surfaces prior to finishing, including dents, scratches, and imperfections.

17. Quality Control :

18. Inspect finished products for defects in finish quality, color consistency, and adhesion.

19. Implement corrective actions to address any issues identified during inspection.

20. Document quality inspection results and maintain records of finished product specifications.

21. Maintenance and Safety :

22. Perform routine maintenance tasks on finishing equipment to keep it in optimal condition.

23. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety in the finishing area.

24. Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to appropriate personnel.

25. Inventory Management :

26. Monitor inventory levels of finishing materials such as paint, stain, and edgebanding supplies.

27. Coordinate with purchasing or logistics departments to reorder materials as needed.

28. Minimize waste and optimize material usage to control costs.

29. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Proven experience in finishing operations

Knowledge of painting techniques, stain application, and edge banding processes.

Familiarity with wood or composite surface preparation methods and materials.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Excellent leadership and communication skills.

Ability to interpret finishing specifications and color standards.

Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations in a manufacturing environment.

Willingness to work flexible hours and adapt to changing priorities.

Pay Details: $22.00 to $27.00 per hour
