Avera is currently seeking a highly motivated Manager of the Comprehensive Weight Management Program

Job Summary

Manages, Coordinates and oversees the pre-surgical evaluation, surgical and post-surgical phases of care for morbidly obese patients. Manages, coordinates and oversees case management for non-surgical obese patients. Ensures quality focuses and cost effective care delivery outcomes. Serves as a primary resource person for clinical skills and expert knowledge to nursing staff. Assists with multidisciplinary approach to achieve excellence and continuity of patient care with defined emphasis on formal and informal staff education and patient/family teaching. Manages other Bariatric Program staff.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

Graduate of a CCNE or NLN accredited school of nursing required.

Bachelor’s degree required, Masters in healthcare related field preferred.

Critical and or surgical care experience required.

Previous management experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of South Dakota and/or meeting the requirements of Multi-state licensure required

Certified Bariatric Nurse (CBN) required within three years of employment.

Membership in a professional nursing organization is preferred.
