JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for providing direct group and individual counseling to program clients. The CASAC will work with the case management staff and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to develop and implement treatment plans for clients with history of substance abuse.
Qualifications and Requirements
Certificates or Licenses: Valid CASAC license/credential Required
Education/Experience: Bachelors degree in Social Services strongly preferred. H.S Diploma or GED required
Experience:Three years’ experience treating clients with history of alcohol or substance abuseExcellent interviewing and clinical assessment skills
Knowledge of CARES a plus.
Computer skills: Proficient Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Internet and other software skills are required
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred.
Must be a self-starter
Physical Performance: Ability to attend off-site meetings with community businesses.
Reasoning Ability: Good negotiation skills. Ability to make judgment calls, prioritize, multi-task.
Other Skills: Ability to work independently, establish rapport with program participants and business community, expertise at understanding client needs and matching clients with business contacts. Able to work independently using strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Location: Brooklyn, M-F (Thursday 11am-7pm, all other days 9am-5pm)
Salary: $62,400. annual
Qualifications
JOB-RELATED DUTIES – ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assess program client and participants in a comprehensive evaluation of each client to screen for substance abuse history and/ or issues.
Document, implement and update the treatment and /or individual service plan (ISP) for clients as assigned.
Write weekly progress notes.
Facilitate group counseling sessions including, among others, relapse prevention.
Participate in quality assurance review as required by program management.
Plan and facilitate aftercare with community-based providers.
Identify and develop relationships with community-based providers.
Develop and deliver training to program staff about identifying and treating substance abuse in clients.
