Overview

We are seeking a Poultry Animal Technician to join our dynamic team! This position will focus on overall poultry animal care and welfare, production, facility upkeep and recordkeeping and procedural duties. The person in this role will need to feel passionate about working with poultry, enjoy and excel at organization, and support and maintain a clean, safe and compliant working environment.  We are seeking someone that is hardworking, shows attention to detail, takes initiative, has a teamwork mentality and positive attitude.
Starting Rate: $18/hour

Responsibilities

Cares for animals including feeding, cleaning, grooming, and breeding responsibilities
Follows protocol to ensure the health and welfare of the poultry in care, including maintaining health records
Duties to perform include artificial insemination, blood collection, and other health sampling as directed
Conduct hatch activities including extensive documentation
Keeps accurate records of breeding, feeding, egg collection, cleaning and care of poultry
Maintains responsibility for sanitation of the poultry buildings, cages and support areas.
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Desire to work with and care for poultry on a daily basis.
Interest in poultry production
Continuous effort toward contributing to a clean and safe working environment
Ability and willingness to complete paperwork as needed
Must be available to work weekends/ holidays on a rotating basis
Willingness to work overtime when needed, very limited
This position requires that the PoultryAnimal Care Technician be able to:
Able to handle poultry and recognize abnormalities
Ability to perform repetitive tasks quickly and efficiently
Able to work in a confined environment
Attention to details, experience with GDP desired
Frequently bend, reach, push, pull, squat and lift, stand/walk most of work shift
Avoid contact with avian species outside of work
This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience.  The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the persons relevant experience and/or education level.
