SAIC is seeking a Junior International Analyst to support the Office of International Outreach and Policy (IO&P) within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research & Engineering (OUSD(R&E)) at the Mark Center, Alexandria. Specifically, the ideal candidate will be supporting two key portfolios: The Technical Cooperation Program (TTCP) and NATO. In this fast-paced environment, the ideal candidate will be involved in planning and executing meetings between senior U.S. officials and their international counterparts, drafting reports and read-ahead materials, coordinating logistics for international engagements, and maintaining situational awareness of cooperative activities.
This position has an on-site requirement of 4x/week at the Mark Center, Alexandria.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Meeting Coordination:
Plan and execute meetings and events between senior U.S. officials and their international counterparts, with a focus on TTCP and NATO.
Coordinate logistics such as access to military installations, clearances, and foreign visit requests.
Draft and prepare agendas, read-ahead materials (e.g., background briefings, issue papers), and comprehensive meeting minutes and reports.
Country and Program Analysis:
Write and maintain OUSD(R&E) country-specific products, including comprehensive country papers and one-pagers, focusing on S&T priorities, defense organizational structures, and cooperative activities.
Track and assess international agreements and engagements between OUSD(R&E) senior leadership and specific countries.
Action Officer Support:
Serve as an action officer for assigned geographic areas of responsibility, liaising with OSD Components, Services, and R&E Field Activities to ensure action completion between major engagements.
Travel Coordination:
Work with OUSD(R&E) travel planners to organize international travel and coordinate necessary country and security clearances for international engagements.
Support to Senior Leadership:
Assist in preparing briefing materials and providing recommendations to senior leadership on international cooperative activities and agreements.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree and 0 years of experience in international relations, communications, or political science.
At least six months of internship experience, preferably in an international or policy-related field.
Active Secret Clearance
Strong International Relations Knowledge: Familiar with international defense cooperation, particularly within the framework of TTCP and NATO, and adept at navigating governmental and defense organizational structures.
Highly Organized and Detail-Oriented: Capable of managing multiple international engagements, tracking actions, and ensuring timely completion of tasks with precision.
Exceptional Communication Skills: Able to draft detailed reports, briefings, and meeting summaries, as well as convey complex technical and policy information clearly to both U.S. and international stakeholders.
Collaborative Team Player: Comfortable working with technical experts, government personnel, and international counterparts, fostering partnerships across organizations.
Adaptability and Problem-Solving: Able to address challenges in international cooperation, navigate cultural and regulatory differences, and propose effective solutions.
Event and Meeting Coordination: Skilled in organizing and executing high-level meetings, ensuring logistical arrangements, clearances, and documentation are handled efficiently.
Familiarity with International Travel Protocols: Experience with coordinating foreign visit requests, travel logistics, and security clearances for international engagements.
Travel:
Some travel, both CONUS and OCONUS, may be required.
