Part Time Position

Schedule: 4 hours/day -5 days a week

Example Schedule: 08-1200 or 09-1300 No Holidays/No weekends.

The position will verify billing is correct and all items used in procedure are accounted and charged for in EPIC record.

BASIC PURPOSE : A major portion of the position is the scheduling of operative procedures and post- operative data entry. Also provides diverse clerical duties. Maintains daily logs, runs requested data reports, and distributes statistical data for the department. Assures daily charges are recorded and entered into the CRT. Responsible for excellent interpersonal skills and practicing the Core Values of the Mercy Health Care System.

POSITION: SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

LEADERSHIP SKILLS Effectively leads the employees in OR scheduling department Assists with in-services, cross-training, and education Provides leadership in staff scheduling, cost containment, staff flexibility, working relationships. Has primary responsibility for scheduling system maintenance & communication. Is the point person for channeling communication to the scheduling office and for production & delivery of reports. Possesses discretion with needs to consult higher administration, anesthesia staff, nursing staff regarding problems, issues

TECHNICAL/CLINICAL SKILLS: Maintains patient confidentiality. Collects and totals data for department/unit. Records, enters and reconciles daily charges. Participates in cost containment activities. Proficient in computer skills. Functions well in fast paced environment. Maintains an atmosphere of professionalism. Provides statistics to Director/ANM/Anesthesia. Maintains surgery schedule. Enforces block time scheduling policy. Utilizes troubleshooting skills to resolve patient scheduling issues/conflicts.

TEAMWORK AND COMMUNICATION: Under the direction of the Director/designee, acts as the central figure for routine and emergency case information inter and intra departmentally. Establishes and maintains effective interpersonal relationships with patients, the public, physicians and facility personnel. Assists clinical staff in maintenance of case cart information. Establishes rapport with physician office personnel. Effectively communicates with ANM and anesthesia physician to facilitate surgery schedule. Assists with orientation of new employees. Perform other duties deemed necessary by management.

PROFESSIONAL/EDUCATIONAL: Attends educational and other required programs. Maintains personal grooming and attire consistent with policy. Maintains job specific competencies.

PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT: Actively participates in individual and unit/facility performance improvement activities.

Annual objectives are developed, weighted and attached to employee performance appraisals.

EDUCATION, SPECIALIZED AND/OR TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

High School Graduate or GED required.

Basic computer skills, typing skills, knowledge of medical terminology.

Previous experience in health care setting preferred.

Ability to manage the scheduling of surgical procedures

Mental Requirements:

Work under stressful conditions and/or irregular hours. Ability to handle stress and change in appropriate manner. Mental alertness and critical thinking skills in stressful situations. A positive attitude toward health care members and diverse patient/resident population. Verbal, numerical, and hand-written aptitude required Good Concentration Able to organize information quickly and efficiently.

Working Conditions:

Exposure to hazardous materials and waste products is possible. PPE per policy is provided. Responsible for highly confidential information. Subject to frequent interruptions.
