Job Description:

Operate the spray dryer in a manner that maximizes production and minimizes down time. The Dryer Operator is responsible for the consistency and quality of the finished product. When dryer cleanup is necessary or scheduled, it is the responsibility of the Dryer Operator to clean up in a fashion not to negatively affect the ensuing product and in accordance with the applicable clean up procedures. Clean up shall be performed diligently with effort given to minimum down time. The Dryer Operator is responsible for performing daily housekeeping/checklist. Assist the production supervisor when required during dryer clean up and with any clean up activities or duties assigned during his/her shift. The Dryer Operator has full authority to regulate the dryer as to prevent harm or damage to Bay Valley Foods and its employees. The Dryer Operator is responsible for maintaining a safe work area and for adhering to the safety requirements established by the safety committee and Bay Valley Foods. The Dryer Operator will perform static strap inspections/checklist and record spray head temperatures. The Dryer Operator will clean the sprays a minimum of once per shift. The Dryer Operator will inspect the spray heads for any scorched product or build up and remove it if needed. The Dryer Operator will comply with the requirements defined within the contents of the GMPs, HACCP, LO/TO procedures, and Food Safety programs with the Confined Space Entry requirements program established by Bay Valley Foods. The Dryer Operator will maintain the dryer operation data sheet during the shift. During the term of the Dryer Operator’s shift, he/she will maintain the dryer operations log. In general, the Dryer Operations Log is to contain any information, notes observations and instructions pertinent to the operation of the Dryer during his/her shift. Each Dryer Operator should review this information with the Dryer Operator who is to relieve his/her shift. Some examples of the information which should be maintained in the Dryer Operations Log are:

Specific changes on instructions relevant to the production or operation of the

dryer during his/her shift.

Description of unscheduled down time and the duration of the down time. Description of any abnormal operation experienced within the dryer during his/her shift. Document any injuries that have occurred during his/her shift. The Dryer Operator is accountable to the Production supervisor/Production Manager on his/her shift.
