COMPUTER SCIENTIST

Summary You will serve as a COMPUTER SCIENTIST in the UNDERSEA SYSTEMS ACQUISITION & ASSESSMENT DIVISION within the TEST AND EVALUATION DEPT of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV KEYPORT WA. Responsibilities You will collaborate with vehicle and systems design agents to ensure compatibility and maintainability of toolsets. You will coordinate with technical design agents and customers on development of analysis tools relating to applicable requirement specifications. You will identify where tools and infrastructure need to be enhanced and modernized, utilizing current and future technologies. You will apply accepted testing methodology to demonstrate that any tools developed are ready for implementation. You will implement data science algorithms (e.g. machine learning) to large datasets to support the characterization of system data and performance. You will ensure tools meet functional requirements throughout the lifecycle development, and conform to applicable configuration management protocols. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional scientist analyzing test and evaluation assessment data for the development of an undersea warfare system or related assessment tools. Education Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess a Bachelors degree in computer science or bachelors degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
