SUMMARY: Acts as facilitator, educator and resource person for staff, physicians and breastfeeding families throughout the childbearing cycle. Provides educational programs and participates in the development and implementation of a comprehensive breastfeeding program. Assists in establishing and maintaining the standard of care for breastfeeding families through participation in continuous quality improvement activities.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: BSN required, MS preferred. Graduate from accredited school of nursing.

Experience: Requires a minimum of three years of experience in Maternal Child Health Nursing. A minimum of 1 year teaching experience with adult learners preferred.

License: Current NYS Registered Nurse license.

Maintains lactation consultant (IBLCE) and a Basic Life Support Provider (BLS) certifications.

Working Conditions:

Manual: Some manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity

Occupational: Some occupational risk

Physical Effort: Medium to Heavy effort. May exert up to 35 lbs. force

Physical Environment: Significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
