POSITION OBJECTIVE:Through the lens of Northern’s leadership Principles, the Strategy Director is primarily responsible for inspiring, developing, and leading the Strategy Team while also partnering with leaders across the organization to research, plan, and execute key strategies; identify and improve efficiencies; gain productivity; and establish greater transparency and accountability in the accomplishment of our overall objectives. Make recommendations based on findings and support execution of approved plans.With “Strategy Owners”, team serves as the key resource to help plan, identify action steps, determine measurables, align resources, discover efficiencies, and report progress.With the SVP of HR, Training & Compliance, CFO, CEO & KLT to ensure alignment of Stakeholders to Strategic Initiatives. Partners to educate Internal Owners on what has been established for the year and the role that everyone plays.With the SVP of HR, Training & Compliance, CEO, and KLT to research, present, and execute new strategic initiatives that have a positive impact on Northern, the membership, and communities we serve.Researching and identifying:Establishing effective framework for incoming ideas to be submitted, considered and approved based on short- and long-term needs.Emerging concepts being adopted by other credit unions and/or financial institutions that would be of benefit to Northern.Industry related trends and presenting to CEO, KLT and the board. Learnings will be shared with all internal owners to help generate excitement and engagement with implementing strategies that align with Northern’s visionProject planning:Providing transparency at all levels, including the board through easily accessible, and user- friendly dashboards.Aligning resources, enabling opportunities for internal owners to develop leadership, project management, and process improvement skills.Understanding key milestones, progress, and any obstacles to success.Incorporating best practices for properly planning, managing and executing strategies.Operational efficiencies and productivity:Ensuring leaders revise procedures, training plans, and coaching to align with improvements.Driving changes required with vendors to improve systems/processes.Understanding systems and/or operational barriers that prevent efficiency and limit productivity.Assessing areas within the organization that are not performing at maximum capacity, understands inhibitors, and collaborates with the leader in the development of solutions.OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:Through Ownership Pride, promotes Northerns Core Values throughout the organization. Promotes teamwork within the Credit Union and actively seeks solutions to issues related to member and internal owner expectations.Actively participates in other Credit Union duties, functions, committees, and events as may be reasonably requested, or on a volunteer basis.Provides informed, prompt, professional and accurate communication, service and support to all members and internal owners.Participates in the future of the credit union by offering constructive suggestions that may attract new members and/or enhance product penetration. Keeps management informed of significant problems, provides recommendations for more effective programs as well as, lending needs and suggests related procedural changes as applicable.Stays informed and maintains a working knowledge of state and federal regulations as well as changes to credit union regulations, policies and procedures, products/services, and delivery channels as well as culture and trends within the Credit Union industry.Identifies and participates in educational programs such as Cornerstone online training resources, schools and/or conferences to continually develop greater knowledge and expertise. Takes initiative for personal career development and seeks opportunities to learn new skills.Hybrid work environment and occasional travel is required.Establishes and maintains professional business relationships with internal and external members, partners, association groups, service vendors, and other parties as necessary and appropriate in support of Credit Union programs.QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEBachelors’ Degree from an accredited college or university is required.Five to ten years of related experience is requiredHas supervisory/managerial responsibilities over a branch or small to medium sized department. Supervises, coordinates and reviews the work of assigned staff, typically with a subordinate group of up to 15 employees. Recommends candidates for employment, conducts performance evaluations and salary reviews for assigned staff, and applies company policy. Can include department heads with no staffA significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. Exact offers will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience
