Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Cable Technician to join our team in new commercial construction environments. The technician will collaborate with clients and internal teams to pull, test, and terminate Cat 5, Cat 6, and potentially fiber optic cables. This is an in-person role with working hours from 7 am to 4 pm. The ideal candidate must possess excellent customer service skills and have 3 to 5 years of experience as a cable technician but willing to look at less as long as they have some history of cabling in the past 3 years.

Skills and Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in pulling, punching down, and connecting Cat 5, Cat 6, and fiber cables.

• Valid driver’s license.

• Basic computer skills; IT network experience is a plus.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build customer relationships.

• Adaptable, flexible, and resilient to change.

• Exceptional time management and organizational skills.

• Self-starter who can work independently.

• Proven troubleshooting skills.

• Positive attitude and ability to work effectively with diverse groups and teams, both internally and externally.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.

• Capable of lifting weights up to 30 lbs from floor level to above shoulders.

• Adequate vision for computer use and reading.

• Adequate hearing for phone communication.

• Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses, protective-toe boots, and appropriate gloves. Additional equipment may include fall protection, dust mask, respirator, and hearing protection as needed.

• Ability to visit construction job sites, which may involve walking on uneven terrain, climbing, stooping, squatting, and exposure to temperature extremes and various weather conditions to perform site surveys and collect project design data.

• Willingness to be exposed to special hazards such as mechanical, electrical, chemical, and explosive risks during site visits.

• Prepared to work during the COVID-19 pandemic, including compliance with safety precautions like temperature checks and onsite health screenings.

Top Skills:

• Proficiency with Cat 5 and Cat 6 cable installation.

• Experience with cable pulling, punching down, and terminating cables.

• Familiarity with fiber optic cables is a plus.

Experience Level:

• Intermediate level.
