What Youll Do

We’re looking for a Quantitative Research Analyst to join our Asset Allocation team. In this role, you’ll develop quantitative investment models that will be used to run systematic equity and global macro portfolios. The Associate’s primary responsibility will be conducting research in quantitative equity portfolios.

Alpha research: Support building signals for rules based and systematic equity strategies. Initial focus is long only with possible extension to long/short.

Sourcing of new data: Perform new data source research, data acquisition and onboarding from external vendors

Data management: proper implementation of data models, pipelines, database designs, and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) principles in partnership with Technology team

Data quality assurance and production model experience: ensuring information received and delivered is accurate and timely. Partner with Technology team to ensure production code is written efficiently and is run with proper oversight.

Portfolio management: Support portfolio management and work with senior PM and the trade desk to ensure efficient implementation and deliver live attractive performance track record.

Principal Asset Allocation manages multi-asset, multi-manager portfolios as well as quantitative and indexed portfolios that aim to deliver risk-adjusted investment performance that meet our clients’ needs. Our clients are institutional and individual investors through our relationships with investment consultants, wealth management platforms, and financial advisors across the globe. Principal Asset Allocation team has $239 billion in assets under management (as of March 2024).

Who You Are

Bachelors, Master’s degree or PhD in Statistics, Data Science, Finance, Financial Engineering, Engineering, Computer Science including related intern or work experience

Experience in stock selection research in a systematic team

Solid programming skills in Python and SQL

Skills That Will Help You Stand Out

3 years in quant equity selection research experience

Experience with machine learning algorithms and statistical techniques

Strong organizational, interpersonal, and proven problem-solving abilities

Success in this position requires the ability to make effective, well-informed decisions and recommendations in a highly time-sensitive environment

Must have a very high level of self-initiative, be able to work independently within a collegial structure, and be comfortable taking risks

You enjoy asking research questions, expressing opinions, and actively engaging in internal discussions regarding investment strategy design and implementation

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$86450 – $147600 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.
