Position Summary

Provide premium software support and services to Ensono mainframe clients as they relate to Mainframe DB2 systems.

Position reports to Manager – Mainframe Database

Key Areas of Focus for this Role

Fulfill customer service requests for mainframe z/OS customers in a timely manner as they pertain to DB2 and related OEM software products.

Provide primary upgrade support for DB2 and products related to DB2.

Follow procedures for installing OEM software products efficiently and according to best practices and Ensono standards (for productivity/scalability).

Assist in the onboarding of new Ensono clients with respect to DB2 and related OEM software products.

Adhere to a schedule that efficiently manages resources and allows timely implementations.

Follow ITSM change control procedures

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required and/or equivalent work experience.

10 years of professional experience in DB2 for administration and systems programming support (CA, BMC and IBM tools for DB2 is a plus).

Extensive experience with the following:

Recent installation and customization of DB2 subsystems

Troubleshooting and solving of DB2 System database issues

Troubleshooting and solving DB2 software related issues

Working knowledge of WLM environment with respect to DB2

Solid working knowledge of DB2 Utilities, TSO and FTP

Strong knowledge of SMP/E and its role in the installation process

Base knowledge in Unix System Services(USS) related to DB2 requirements in USS

Strong JCL skills

Knowledge in best practices of software management, maintenance and documentation

Configure and manage DB2 in a parallel sysplex environment (Data sharing a Plus).

Develop innovation, strategies, processes and best practices in DB2 systems programming

Ability to work with clients as an Ensono ambassador for DB2 related matters

Other Qualifications

Reviewing new versions of DB2 for functionality, advising how they benefit the client

Vendor consultations for problems and questions

Working knowledge of SMS, IDCAMS, DF/DSS and other standard utilities and subsystems.

Assembly Language and exit coding

Identification and resolution of performance issues

Base understanding of DB2 database administration (App DBA).

Understanding of DB2 connect, Security exits.

DB2 data sharing in a SYSPLEX environment

Extracting information from DB2 logs

DB2 Database system recovery

Experience with IMS and IMS upgrades a plus
