Heres what youll do:
POSITION SUMMARY:The Dental Assistant is a vital member of the dental clinic. Working with the volunteer dentists and their staffs, the Dental Assistant provides continuity for the program overall, assisting chair side managing dental office infection control, office duties, and patient education.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Preparing and maintaining dental instruments, supplies, and equipment
Patient reception and eligibility determination
Collecting and recording patient health histories
Chairside assisting, instrument transfer
Retracting tissues and suctioning to assist better vision of the operating field
Preparation of dental materials, cement, amalgam, impression materials, etc.
Dental charting, filing of client charts
Inventory control and management
Taking and developing dental X-Rays
Placing sealants
Removing excess cement from fabricated restorations
Manage the dental office infection control plan to meet OSHA, CDC and ADA standards
Instrument cleaning, sterilization/disinfection, and re-circulation
Dental treatment room disinfection
Taking impressions
Pouring impressions to make stone and plaster models
Entry of client data into Homeless Management Information System
Educating and delivering patient personal oral health care instructions
Other duties as needed
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent, with a minimum three years experience as an assistant in a dental office. Must be certified for radiography. Preference is given to candidates who have successfully completed an expanded duty course accredited by the ADA or who possesses a current Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) credential.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 – $21.00 per hour
