Position Summary
The program director is responsible for developing and maintaining curriculum, equipment and facilities in accordance with FAA regulations and procedures. S/he will foster student learning through effective teaching aircraft maintenance coursework in preparing students for the FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification. The teaching schedule will be assigned by the dean and may involve teaching at various locations in a variety of delivery formats including online, virtual, and face to face. Instructors may be asked to teach evenings and weekends. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the instructor will be expected to contribute professional expertise through non-teaching activities to the department, program, and college.
Salary: Appropriate placement on ACCS Salary Schedule D: $42,108- $94,363 (9 months)
An additional summer assignment may be available: $13,001 – $29,184 (3 months)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the implementation of a new part 147 program
Assist in the development of part 147 operations manual
Responsible for equipment acquisition
Liaise with the FAA
Develop, revise, and/or recommend curriculum changes that meet the objectives of the course/program and improve student learning.
Ensures that each program/class meets the Calhoun Community College Course Standard, includes all appropriate curricular components, utilizes effective teaching methods/practices (pedagogy), and reflects current field practices.
Provide competent classroom and laboratory instruction in the area of credentialed expertise.
Assist in the development of discipline-specific student learning outcome objectives.
Assess student learning using multiple assessment strategies.
Analyze and interpret data relative to student learning and provide feedback to the institution and students for the purpose of improving and expanding student learning.
Teach at varied times and places and in varied formats based on student demand; day or evening, on the Decatur and Huntsville/Research Park Campus, or at other sites, including dual enrollment, traditional classroom, hybrid or web format, and distance education.
Evaluate the progress of students in all classes according to instructional, divisional, departmental, and individual criteria.
Collect, maintain, and submit accurate class records including grades, attendance rosters, absences, withdrawal, and/or class drop information to appropriate offices.
