Teacher Coordinator – Autism School

Our Lerner School for Autism is state of-the-art and serves students from the earliest age of their diagnosis through 21. We offer full day year-round programs that focus on the development of our students communication, socialization, and academics.

As a Teacher Coordinator, you will collaborate with the Autism Center Coordinator of Educational Services to design specific curricula to work toward each students Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals and to design and monitor individual and group programs. You will also provide support and direction for Classroom Behavior Therapist caregivers.

A caregiver in this position works 8:00am – 5:00pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Assist in the design, implementation, and oversight of Individual Education Plans.

Oversee the daily flow of student programs and classroom data collection.

Organize and schedule group activities and community-based outings.

Acquire baseline data and implement programs using behavioral model.

Monitor and make appropriate adjustments.

Prepare and maintain the necessary educational materials and environment.

Provide training and feedback for evaluations.

Present on assigned topics at workshops and in-services.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Bachelors degree in special education or related field.

State of Ohio certification as a teacher.

One year of experience working with children with autism.

Knowledge of applied behavior analysis.

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with children, families, educators, and other professionals.

Demonstrated enthusiasm and patience working with students.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Masters degree.

Physical Requirements:

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting students, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination, physically able to manage students of varying weight and sizes.

Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing.

May be exposed to communicable diseases.
